Mindful Guided Forest Walk – Ashdown Forest – Duddleswell, East Sussex **NEW DATE**

A wonderful short walk that takes in the woods, streams, and the open heathland of the Ashdown Forest. Heathland is one of the rarest habitats in Britain, and this section of the Ashdown Forest is alive with beautiful flowers and wildlife.

Distance: 4 km / 2.5 miles

Time: 2 hours (including breaks and mindful opportunities)

Is it for me?

If you need to escape from the pressures of every day life yet do not have the time or the ability for a long day’s walk, then this may just be for you. Mindful walking is no more complicated than simply going for a wander in nature and paying attention to the present moment and the wonder of the detail around you.

This is an “escape to” the great outdoors – a slow and gentle walk on woodland paths and open heathland suitable for beginners as well as those interested in the wildlife and the history of this beautiful part of Sussex. The walk stays on the beaten track, and there is opportunity to really connect with nature – in the woods; on the banks of the flowing streams; and on the heathland itself. The group size is kept small for a more personal experience.

The route is mainly flat and there are no stiles to cross. There is one hill with a gentle ascent over a few hundred metres. The ground will be muddy in some places if it has been wet, and there are some short sections where the ground is uneven.

If you are new to country walking, or just a little apprehensive, there is no need to worry. Andy will ensure that the pace and the route makes for an enjoyable walk.

We can chat about some of the history of the area, as well as learning about the wildlife we come across. Or if you simply want to take in the view, then that’s fine too.
