Guided Walk – Surrey Hills & Leith Hill Tower
17/08/2021 at 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
A circular walk for those who want to spend a good day in the hills, taking in the beauty of the Surrey countryside.
Distance: Approx. 19km / 12 miles
Time: 6.5 hours (including breaks and opportunities to enjoy the views)
Group Size: 2 to 8
Is it for me?
This is an undulating walk on woodland paths and open grassland, with fantastic views from the higher ground along the way. There are some hills to climb, although anyone with a moderate level of fitness should be fine.
At the halfway point, we reach the highest part of the walk at Leith Hill Tower. With spectacular views towards London in the North, and the Channel in the South, the top of the tower itself marks the highest point in South East England at 1029ft (313m).
There is a small take-away ‘café’ at the Tower for drinks and snacks, but may be busy in summer.
The ground will be muddy in some places if it has been wet, and there are some short sections where the ground is uneven.
If you are new to country walking, or just a little apprehensive, there is no need to worry. Andy will ensure that the pace and the route makes for an enjoyable walk.
We can chat about some of the history of the area, as well as learning about the wildlife we come across. Or if you simply want to take in the view, notice what’s around you, and breathe in the air… then that’s fine too.
