Guided Walk – Beddingham Hill and Firle Beacon Walk, South Downs
26/08/2021 at 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
This is a circular walk that takes you up onto the South Downs in East Sussex. It follows the higher ground from Beddingham Hill to Firle Beacon and Bostal Hill, followed by a beautiful stroll through the lowland, via the grounds of the fascinating and historic Firle Place.
Distance: 17.5 km / 11 miles
Time: 6 hours (including breaks and lunch stop)
Is it for me?
A route across open grassland, with great views across the South Downs on clear days. Easy underfoot, with some muddy patches when wet. There is a hill climb near the start of the walk and one descent, so some fitness is required.
The ground will be muddy in some places if it has been wet, and there are some short sections where the ground is uneven.
If you are new to country walking, or just a little apprehensive, there is no need to worry. Your leader will ensure that the pace and the route make for an enjoyable walk.
We can chat about some of the history of the area, as well as learning about the wildlife we come across. Or if you simply want to take in the view, notice what’s around you, and breathe in the air… then that’s fine too.
